Starting from - Meet at the footbridge that links Keswick and Portinscale. Coming from the A66 onto the B5289 towards Keswick, the first turn on the right is a no through road to traffic – turn down this as it goes to the footbridge. Plenty of parking on the side of the road. Note the form on breeze insists on a postcode - clearly the bridge has no location from which to get one, so that provided is of a portinscale hotel, CA12 5RF

We will have introductions, a bike and clothing check, and then a short warm up on the bike. We then walk over the footbridge to Portinscale where we will mount our trusty steeds. We ride past Derwentwater and Nichol end marinas and on to the Newlands adventure centre. A short sharp up brings us onto the road below Catbells. We travel along this with stunning views of the lake below and the surrounding fells. The road is generally heading downhill to Grange. We then head onto the Borrowdale road that goes back to Keswick. We aim to stop shortly after entering this road at the climber’s cafe at the farm below Shepherds Crag for cheap cuppa (cheap eats too for the hungry). Suitably refreshed we head along the road towards Keswick enjoying the views of the lake from the Borrowdale side of the lake. We go through Keswick and back to the Portinscale Bridge. Note - ride time includes any general stoppage time e.g. changing clothing etc, and overall time includes introductions and cafe time Please wear suitable clothing for the weather and please being a waterproof jacket - sunny days can end up being rainy in the lakes! A helmet is advised but not essential so still come even if you do not have one. Bring some water, food and a smile and be ready to enjoy. The aim of the ride is to have a fun sociable ride in the company of other women, build up confidence in our riding in a supportive group environment, as well ask questions about bikes and riding, and make links with others. All welcome and we will not leave anyone behind Look forward to seeing you, Wendy and Mim
