Mayflower Steps, The Barbican, Plymouth. PL1 2LR

Join me, Sam, for a gentle pedal round Plymouth's beautiful and historic waterfront. This Sunday morning ride will be on quiet roads and cycle paths. Don't let the roads put you off as I'll be there to guide you and look after you should we encounter any traffic. We meet at the Mayflower Steps and from there make our way out of the Barbican and around the front of the Citadel along Maderia Road. Following the road all the way along the front of The Hoe and out through West Hoe you'll spot Smeaton's Tower and Tinside Lido. We'll make our way out of West Hoe and along Millbay Road past the beautful Duke of Cornwall hotel and seeing if we can spot a ferry docked waiting to take people to France or Spain. Heading down to Stonehouse peninsular we'll pass Stonehouse Barracks before riding over the cobbles into Royal William Yard. We'll stop at Rockets and Rascals in Royal William Yard for a cup of tea/coffee and a natter, taking a quick peek out through the Firestone Bay tunnel at Drake's Island. We make our way back towards the Barbican passing the Cremyll Ferry and back through Millbay. We'll ride behind the Duke of Cornwall Hotel and along Citadel Road before taking an interesting route back to the Mayflower Steps. The full route map is here - http://www.mapmyride.com/routes/view/339875445 There are a few small hills on the route, don't be put off, we'll take them at your pace. Please bring a lock and some small change for our tea break. In case of bad weather please check here on the day of the ride to see if it is still going ahead.
