Starting point

London
NW1 5LD

Italians have been coming to London since Roman times; to build a new life, or at times of political turmoil. Many of us love Italian food, but did you know that Italians were the early City bankers; or that an Italian woman ran three London theatres? We'll discover some of the places they lived and worked around central London. Our refreshment stop is the iconic Bar Italia in Soho. The ride begins at Baker Street station and ends at Aldgate Station, from which you can get the Met back to the Harrow area. You will need to carry your bike up and down stairs, but people can help if necessary.

Route rating

A slow ride around places linked to Italians who have shaped London's history and culture

Most is on quiet roads but there are some moments on busier roads

We'll stop at various points to talk about the people associated with them; and at the iconic Bar Italia in Soho for refreshments

Bring a good strong lock as we shall be leaving our bikes near the coffee stop; also water, and money for the cafe

We especially welcome newbies!
