If you're fairly confident on your bike and ready to broaden your cycling horizons, our Steady rides are ideal. At a comfortable pace, and possibly with some modest hills along the way, rides take place on mainly quiet roads with plenty of sights along the way. Rides are between 6 and 20 miles long, at a moderate pace of between 7 and 10 miles an hour. This is a scenic ride giving views of the River Orwell and River Stour estuaries. You will see the Royal Hospital School and Erwarton Hall, a Tudor mansion where Anne Boleyn is reputed to have stayed frequently and the church where she is said to have left instructions for her heart to be buried. Indeed in the 19th century a heart shaped casket was found in the walls and respectfully reinterred there. There is a field which usually contains Alpacas and a farmhouse which keeps peacocks. The 20 mile route is undulating but none of the climbs are very long though a couple will perhaps raise your heart rate a little! A good ride for anyone wanting to test themselves and move on from the shorter Sky Rides and really enjoy the experience of a group ride.
