Inverleith Loop from Saughton Gardens

An easygoing ride along shared paths and quiet roads to the north of Edinburgh.

From our meeting point we'll cycle through Saughton Park, along the path beside Water of Leith to Roseburn Park before joining a short section of the new CCWEL to reach the Roseburn Path.

We'll follow the path network all the way to the five-ways junction at Trinity. Then we'll branch off onto the Goldenacre path, skirt around the Botanic Gardens to pass through Inverleith Park then return on quiet roads and paths to Craigleith, Roseburn and back to our starting point.

Along our way we'll point out some of the often used starting points for our group rides for the benefit of our new Ageing Well graduates! The route also links Saughton Gardens with Ainslie Park Leisure Centre.

We'll take our time, stop periodically to catch our breath and enjoy the views and will have a mid-ride coffee break (outdoors if sunny, indoors if inclement!)

The route is mostly cycle ways with a few short sections on quieter roads. All on tarmac apart from a short stretch beside the Water of Leith which is hard packed gravel.

Bring a bike lock if you have one and cash/card if you want to buy anything at our refreshment stop. Bring a pump and spare inner tube for your bike and/or have a means of getting home in case of mechanical breakdown (eg friend/taxi/insurance). Helmets are strongly recommended.

First timers are very welcome, we never leave anyone behind!
