International Women's Day Ride
8 March 2015 10am - 2pm
A ride for everyone, female and male, from South East London into Central London to mark International Women's day and try and find a few statues of famous women. And a few it may be, as there aren't a lot, which probably brings us back to why we still need days like this. We will stick to quiet cycle routes as much as possible, but on occasions it is necessary to cross a few main roads. Starting in Ladywell, 9.30 am if you want coffee first, at le Delice Cafe (although park bikes and gather after coffee opposite the cafe on the other side of the main road where there is more space) with a further pick up point in Greenwich we'll take cycle routes up to Blackfriars Bridge. We'll squeeze in a look at a memorial on the Bermondsey Riverside before heading up to cross the river to look at memorials in Lincolns Inn Fields, before moving north to Tavistock Square, then heading back south over Southwark Bridge to find something in memory of some rather less famous women.
We'll stick as much as we can to quiet routes, but this ride does head into central London, which, although much quieter on a Sunday, does have some busy sections. We will stop for refreshments around the half way mark, possibly in Russell Square Cafe. NB. This ride is not women only. Contact number 07826559603
