Starting from - Start:
Dalkeith High School / Community Campus (first left at the traffic lights heading East after Aldi's) and just at the start of the large car park area within the school grounds (near the Sustans sign). Postcode EH22 2PS.
Car parking (if you need to bring a car) is usually ok within the school grounds. Or nearby in local housing estate. As it's a week day the car park may be busy but you can also park at Sainsbury's and cycle along to the meeting point. There are toilets in the campus if needed (but please allow time for that so we can leave sharp at 10am). EH22 2AW

Starting point

Midlothian
EH22 2AW

We start at Dalkeith High School Campus and go to Ormiston via the Old Railway line and then take the road to Elphinstone where we drop back down to just above Carberry and then back to to the start via the Langside Head Road. The ride is 12 miles and under 600' of climbing (equivalent to just under 2 times round Arthurs seat). It will be a steady ride and no one will be left behind and very suitable for anyone just getting back into cycling after a wee break.

This is another Mid - East - Mid route from Dalkeith to Ormiston via the Old Railway line and then to Elphinstone and Carberry and returning back to the High School.

We will be cycling on a mix of shared paths, quieter roads and a short section on the Langside Head Road that can be a bit busier. On the shared paths we will likely pass walkers, dogs and horses and maybe tiny humans on balance bikes, so please stay safe and keep other users safe.

We will have a stop for coffee on the way out at Hoods Honey (about 7 miles into the ride)

Please bring the following with you: Bike in good and safe working order and well maintained, a helmet, spare inner-tube / puncture repair kit, a bike lock if you have one, layers (including a waterproof incase of rain), card or cash payment if you want to buy anything at our café stop. We don't leave anyone behind but if you find yourself in a position of being unable to continue with the ride for any reason, for example in the event of a puncture / mechanical that cannot be fixed at the roadside, then you need a plan for getting back home. And of course you will need a water bottle or two, some snacks just incase we dont stop for coffee (for what ever reason) and loads of chat!

First-timers welcome!
