Ilkley via Askwith & Curly Hill

Join us for an early morning ride to Ilkley via Otley and Askwith, a couple of steady climbs but worth it for the scenery and hopefully some spring lambs doing zoomies in the fields

Weather apps are all showing different forecasts there is a possibility of drizzle

We head out onto A65, from here its down Bradford road into Otley, turning left onto West Busk lane to end and use the underpass coming out on Ilkley road, we take a left at Beech Hill car park and follow path coming out on Bridge street, here its left over the river and up Billams Hill then left onto Weston lane and Askwith, passing Denton Bridge 0.3 mile we turn right onto Carter's lane, its a 300ft climb over 1 mile, dropping down Curly Hill then left onto Middleton avenue over Ilkley New Brook Street Bridge and into Ilkley for coffee

Our return route takes us back to Burley in Wharfedale on A65, this can be a busy section so you must be comfortable with traffic passing, once at the Burley roundabout we will use the underpass coming out on West Terrace along Main street and pick the A65 up again at the roundabout, heading up the hill we turn right onto Menston Old Lane and back up to our start point

Warm clothing, spare inner tube and pennies for cafe stop

Ilkley has plenty of cafes to choose from, suggestion is Booths cafe, its reasonably priced
