Baildon

You don’t have to be the next Bradley Wiggins, but you’ll need to know your way around a bike and be fairly fit to take part in our Challenging rides. If you’re comfortable riding with other people and fancy a fresh challenge, these rides are perfect for you. They start at around twenty miles long, and are paced at between 11 and 12 miles an hour.

At just under 27 miles this challenging route heads over both Baildon and Ilkley Moor. Although far from easy, the ride offers plenty of quiet country lanes and riverside stops with the reward of some of the most outstanding views in the area including the Cow and Calf Rocks. The route is solely on tarmac so is ideal for road bikes. To reward you for your efforts, there are a number of possible refreshment stops, notably the riverside cafe at Ilkley and the cafe and shop at Otley. You'll also want to stop and admire the view at the Cow and Calf Rocks, the legendary millstone grit outcrop at Ilkley Moor Quarry.
