Accrington Train Station

If you’re fairly confident on your bike and ready to broaden your cycling horizons, our Steady rides are ideal. At a comfortable pace, and possibly with some modest hills along the way, rides take place on mainly quiet roads with plenty of sights along the way. Rides are between 6 and 20 miles long, at a moderate pace of between 7 and 10 miles an hour. Get behind your Tour of Britain team with this celebratory bike ride and a chance to spin your wheels like a pro! The Tour of Britain is the UK’s biggest professional bike race with challenging hills, stunning countryside and famous riders from all over the world taking part. This year’s tour will see Olympic medallist Bradley Wiggins and stage winner of the Tour de France Mark Cavendish take part in the gruelling bike race. Millions will flock to the road side to catch a glimpse of the 195 riders and thousands will be watching the excitement from their seats at home. Starting from the Asda car park in Accrington by the train station the route takes us on the Hyndburn Greenway and the Leeds Liverpool canal through Rishton, past the Whitebirk Retail Park to the outskirts of Blackburn before climbing up above Oswaldtwistle past the Brittania Inn on Haslingden Road. The home leg sees us passing the famous Holland Pies factory at Baxenden before rejoining the other end of the greenway for the descent back into Accrington
