Just because the evenings are getting darker and colder doesn’t mean we stop cycling!!!!!
Join us for a short taster ride around the Sunderland Coalfields. Our Guided Ride leaders will take you on a loop ride from Houghton to Hetton and back again using shared paths, cycle tracks and quiet roads. These rides are suitable for those new or returning to cycling to build up confidence while enjoying the summer evenings and good company.
Make sure you bring gloves and wear suitable warm clothes.
We will be cycling on a mixture of shared paths, unlit tracks, and quiet roads your FRONT LIGHTS SHOULD BE A 400+ LUMENS
Starting just outside Houghton Rectory Park at the corner where Kimmitt and Roberts is, we cycle past the church over the foot bridge, follow a quiet road along Hall Lane joining the cycle path at Gillas Lane, travel to Hetton Lyons Park using the shared path and quiet roads. In the park we will join NCN70 and follow the route towards Durham, turning at the Moorsley junction back towards Houghton and The Mill Roundabout. Back on shared paths and quiet roads we cycle past the playing fields back to Rectory Park.
