Upminster

This is a great route starting at Hornchurch Stadium Car Park, the home of "The Urchins".  You take a short northerly on road ride to Upminster Windmill before joining the Ingrebourne Way riding from Upminster Park to Ingrebourne Hill, Hornchurch Country Park, Rainham and return.  There is so much to see and do on this route you will want to keep coming back.

Hornchurch Country Park is on the former site of Hornchurch Airfield, you pass a concrete model of a spitfire and a few pill boxes from the Second World War.  The park is a haven for wildlife, cyclists, walkers and dog walkers.

You then ride around Ingrebourne Hill, home of a specially made mountain bike track.  You turn round at Rainham clock tower, where you can also see 12th century Rainham Parish Church and 18th century Rainham Hall. The route then makes a visit to the site of Rainham Wharf, dredged to bring shipping from the Thames before turning for home.
