Burbage Common Visitor Centre

Burbage Common is your starting point, a countryside site located on the edge of Hinckley, a mix of semi-natural woodland and unspoilt grassland. The Acorns coffee shop is in visitor's centre, providing great refreshment at the end of the route. Leaving Burbage common, you cycle towards Stoney Stanton, along country lanes. At Stoney Stanton, you reach St Michael’s church first recorded in 1149 and the curiously named 'Nock Verges' believed to have been the local archery butts, at the time when young men were expected to regularly hone their skills on the long-bow. Heading north towards Kirkby Mallory, venue for the world famous racing circuit, you pass through rolling countryside and quiet roads, before turning South towards Barwell. The name Barwell, "Stream of the Boar", is said to originate from a boar that used to drink from the well near a brook in Barwell. Continuing South you return to your starting point at Burbage Common Visitor's Centre.
