Hilly (thin piece of cake) ride!

This ride is aimed towards women who are confident riding on roads and who have a good degree of general fitness as we will be going up and down hills. It is suitable or road bikes or hybrid bikes fitted with road tyres. It's a monthly ride for ladies who want to climb hills but perhaps at an easier pace (i go up them very slowly) and who also enjoy good cake! We will leave Hathersage and head along the main road to Hope. Here we will turn off and meander along the road through the Edale Valley before attempting to climb Mam Nick (or at least see how far up we can get before stopping)! We will then have a benchmark and can repeat this ride later in the year to see how much we have improved. I foresee myself having plenty of stops up the hill so don't be put off, the rest of the ride is more or less flat. Even if you don't want to attempt the hill, you are welcome to join us as long as you have plenty of layers on to keep warm at the bottom while you wait for us to come back down. Having got as far up as we can, we shall then retrace our route back before stopping in Hope for a well earned cuppa. If the weather forecast is looking icy then the route will be changed, possibly along the main road to Odin Mine in Castleton and back. I will post updates nearer the time. Remember to dress appropriately for the weather and don't forget to bring a pump, spare inner tube, puncture repair kit, drink, snack and money for the cafe stop!
