Hilly Christmas Cake

THIS IS A CHALLENGING RIDE ALTHOUGH SHORT IN LENGTH AND CONTAINS STEEP HILLS. This ride is aimed towards women who are confident riding on roads and who have a good degree of general fitness as we will be going up and down hills. It is suitable or road bikes or hybrid bikes fitted with road tyres. It's a monthly ride for ladies who want to climb hills but perhaps at an easier pace (i go up them very slowly) and who also enjoy good cake! THIS PARTICULAR ROUTE WILL ONLY GO AHEAD IF THE WEATHER CONDITIONS ARE FAVOURABLE. A DECISION WILL BE MADE THE DAY BEFORE AND COMMUNICATED TO ANY PARTICIPANTS BOOKED ON. AN ALTERNATIVE MAY GO AHEAD DEPENDING ON THE WEATHER. For our last hilly cake of the year, it's going to be a cracker. Shorter in distance but with 2 nice hills to tackle! From our meeting point at Monsal Head, we'll head along the road towards Great Longstone but turn left on entering the village to climb up Longstone Edge. We then drop down the other side, head across to Foolow, (where we have the option of another short but steep hill towards Bretton, just for the sake of it!) then criss cross through the lanes to Tideswell. We then go to Litton, dropping down to Cressbrook and along the valley bottom before the famous Monsal Head hill climb to take us back to our starting point. Remember to dress appropriately for the weather and don't forget to bring a pump, spare inner tube, puncture repair kit, drink, snack and money for the cafe stop!
