Hills and Quarries of Hillingdon

A circular route starting from Northwood Station going through Northwood Hills, Ruislip, Ickenham towards Denham then back via the canal before a climb to Harefield. There will be chance to take a break and see the view across the quarry from The Old Orchard in Harefield. The route has some climbs that are worth the effort for great views across the land, as well as a lovely stretch through tree lined lanes between the quarries and the Grand Union Canal. Suitable for hybrid and mountain bikes. (Road bikes welcome, but you'll probably want to dismount down the gravelly road through Denham golf course, and even some sections along the canal) Please ensure that your tyres are pumped up before the ride and your brakes work. Helmets are not compulsory, but please bring water, a spare inner tube, a lock for your bike and some money for refreshments. Check the weather forecast and dress appropriately, wearing non-baggy clothing that will not get caught in the bike chain, (and bring some sunscreen for the exposed parts if it is sunny). We'll hopefully be able to catch the first cuppa of the morning in the Old Orchard before we head back through Harefield to Northwood.
