We head out to Dodworth and onto Silkstone Common via a steady climb along Ben Bank Road. We turn left at the train station at Silkstone Common and down House Carr Lane, then turn right onto Eastfield Lane steadily climbing and turning left onto Pindfold Lane. We enter into Thurgoland along Thurgoland Hall Lane bending around and across the traffic lights on the A629 Halifax Lane. We decide the steep Cote Lane and turn right just after the Bridge Inn and along Old Mill Lane. This road encourages a side by side chat. After a short but steep ascent over the TPT we flow onto Roper House Lane and up to the edge of Thurgoland turning left onto Thurgoland Bank and down into Oxspring and on into Penistone via Sheffield Road. We go past Penistone Church and the town and pop to the Penistone CiC or a local cafe/ stop for a drink.
Our return to Higham takes us A628 Barnsley Road sharp left onto a steep Wellhouse Lane across the A629 Halifax Road and then left onto Renal Lane/Gedding Moor Lane for a quick descent to North Lane. at the bottom of the hill we turn right onto Lane Head Road and through the edge of Cawthorne via the A635 onto the hill up to Barugh Green, where we turn right at the cross road lights and upto Higham CC via Higham Common Road.
