From the entrance to Hexthorpe Park on Greenfield Lane, Hexthorpe
We're starting out from Hexthorpe Park, meeting at 6.00pm with a view to setting off at 6.15pm. There is ample on street parking near to the entrance to the park on Greenfield Lane.
We'll be heading through the park following the Doncaster Greenway into Warmsworth before heading towards to Edlington where we will head out towards Conisbrough viaduct, crossing that and joining the trans pennine trail as it takes us through to Denaby Ings - we'll divert to visit Pastures Lodge at this point to grab a little refreshment before we then head back along Pastures Road and Pastures Lane, climbing up into Cadeby village (a test for your cycling legs - or an opportunity to have a walk). We'll drop down from the village on a very fast downhill run which leads us back to the viaduct but we will then follow the tpt from there through to Sprotbrough Flash. Here we'll make another refreshment stop, at the Boat Inn, before we finally head back out on the tpt and eventually hooking up with the Doncaster Greenway once more and returning to Hexthorpe and the park.
The ride should take around three hours or so (allowing for time at the refreshment stops) so it's vital you have both working front and rear lights and preferably some reflective wear too as it will be dusk if not dark by the time we reach Hexthorpe on the homeward bound part of the ride.
Make sure you wear your helmet (this is compulsory, if you have no helmet you wont be able to ride with us) and appropriate clothing for the weather (if you have any bright or hi-viz then wear that).
As usual we do expect you to have ensured your bike is roadworthy and that you have carried out basic pre ride checks. You should also ensure that you are carrying a hand pump, tools (including tyre levers), at least one spare inner tube for your bicycle, money and a 'phone.
