Hertford to Spoke - Back via Knebworth

Gentle ride starting from Hertford, heading to Spoke cycling cafe and back to Hertford. Route on quiet country lanes and pretty villages. Out of Hertford to Bramfield, through winding lanes to Tewin, climb up Tewin hill to Burnham Green, through to Welham Green and up the hill to Spoke for coffee and cake. The return is quicker as mainly down hill. Through Knebworth, Datchworth, Bramfield and back to Hertford.

35km/21miles total. Stop is halfway. Relaxed pace. No one left behind.

As it is winter please be prepared for cold or wet weather. Wear layers. Please wear a helmet. Please make sure your bike is road worthy and you have spare inner tubes or equipment needed to fix punctures. Bring a mobile phone and consider planning how you could get home if you have a mechanical issue.

Country lanes, coffee and cake 35km (22 miles) route along quiet country lane. Social ride with no pressure on pace.

Country lanes. Some are narrow and winding but very little traffic. Suitable for road bike but be aware of road conditions this time of year.

We will stop at Spoke cycling café near Codicote. They served delicious homemade cakes, toasties and hot drinks.

Please bring money for the coffee stop. Wintry conditions can increase the likelihood of punctures so please bring spare inner tubes. It the weather is overcast then a back light is recommended. Wrap up warm and wear a waterproof jacket in case of rain. Please wear a helmet.
