Henfield to Sumners Ponds - road bikes only

Road bikes (drop bar handlebars) only for this ride. We will meet at the car park outside the Henfield Cricket Club (nr Swains Farm Shop) on the A281. If you are not able to ride to the start point, there are about a dozen car parking spaces usually available. There have been issues regarding us parking here, but the car park is public and owned by the Council NOT the cricket club. Please park considerately. If there are no spaces, please park in the grass area near to Henfield Common. Please be careful if you transport your bike on the roof as there is a height restricting barrier. We will be riding mostly quiet country roads and lanes, but there are two sections where we cross busy “A” roads. You should be confident riding in traffic and have ridden recently at least 30 miles in one journey over the last few weeks. Wearing a helmet is compulsory on this ride. There are a few hills along the way, but nothing too challenging. We will be aiming for an average speed of 12-14mph on the flat, but as always, no one will be left behind and we will make sure no one is struggling, and if necessary, adjust the pace accordingly. Please give your bike a check over before you leave home, are the tyres pumped up? Are the gears and brakes working properly? Always carry a spare inner tube, puncture repair kit and a pump, just in case.
