Starting point

HR3 5DG

Hay Castle, Main Car Park, Oxford Road, Hay-On-Wye, Powys, HR3 5DG

We will ride at a leisurely pace that suits everyone along quiet, gently undulating lanes from Hay on Wye to the little market town of Talgarth in Wales, where we will call in at the recently restored Mill for tea, coffee, and homemade cakes before heading back to Hay. This ride is approximately 15 - 20 miles. This ride is happening as part of the first ever Hay Bike Festival, taking place from the 12th-14th April. BikeFest is a new venture for HTG for 2013. Already well-established as a literary town and a haven for book lovers, Hay on Wye is also emerging as an excellent base for outdoor activities. Hay is an excellent base for cyclists and mountain bikers.  The quiet back lanes of the Radnorshire hills, the black & white villages of Northern Herefordshire and peaceful side roads through the Black Mountains and Brecon Beacons all provide wonderful cycling  routes. There are endless opportunities for natural trail riding, especially for the intrepid MTB rider , and miles of way marked trails in the Brecon Beacons National Park . The long-distance cycle route through Wales, the Lon Las Cymru, diverges at Glasbury just a couple of miles down the road from Hay: one route heading west to Brecon and the other striking off into the Black Mountains destined for Abergavenny and Chepstow.  For more information and other rides please see their website. Look forward to seeing you there!
