Hatch End to Shenley - with hills!

This 25 mile ride, organised by Harrow Cycle Hub, combines cycle paths and quiet streets with some stretches of road with heavier traffic. We head out through Carpenders Park, Watford and Bricket Wood to the Cafe in the Orchard at Shenley. The return journey is through Radlett, Letchmore Heath and Oxhey Village.

The route has several significant hills and includes 1700ft of climbing. Although we always stop to regroup after any challenging ascent, participants must be confident they can cope with this amount of climbing before booking. We aim to maintain an average speed of 8-10 mph.

This ride is suitable for any bike type but a heavy mountain bike may present difficulties on the hills.

Please check your bike before the ride. Ensure that there are no stones, flints or pieces of glass embedded in the tyres. Check the weather forecast and dress appropriately for the conditions.

Please carry a spare innertube and tools to fix a puncture. Make sure you have water and money for the cafe. Alternatively, you can bring your own snack/drink.

The time for the ride is a best estimate by the Ride Leader. Sometimes this can be affected by factors such as the weather, mechanical issues, the queue at the cafe, etc. We have a policy of leaving no rider behind so, if anyone is struggling, we will adjust the speed and take rest stops if necessary.
