Our route takes us north to climb Clamp Hill. We then head through Bushey Heath to descend Little Bushey Lane. We cross the A41 and to pass through Letchmore Heath. We visit the cafe at Elstree Aerodrome with a chance to see the aircraft taking off and landing.

The return journey includes the climbs up Elstree Road and Heathbourne Road before levelling out across Stanmore Common. We descend Dennis Lane, cross Stanmore Broadway and take some quiet (and relatively flat) roads back to the starting point.

The route has significant hills and stretches with busier traffic - sometimes both at the same time. Participants need to be confident cycling in these conditions. We will cycle at a moderate pace.

Check your bike before the ride. Bring a spare innertube (check it's the correct size), a pump and tools to repair a puncture.

The time for the ride is a best estimate by the Ride Leader. Sometimes this can be affected by factors such as the weather, mechanical issues, the queue at the cafe, etc. We have a policy of leaving no rider behind so, if anyone is struggling, we will adjust the speed and take rest stops if necessary.
