Starting point

London
HA1 1XE

This ride has everything except a lot of traffic. Our route includes quiet residential roads, cycle paths, numerous parks, an ecology park, two golf courses, three stretches of canal towpath, a riverbank, an historic building and a choice of two cafes! Where we do encounter heavier traffic, it is on very short stretches of road. There are a couple of hills of note: one longish drag on the way out and a short sharp one on the return. Walking is allowed!

The route involves a significant amount of off-road riding. Some sections may be soft or muddy after heavy rain. This ride is nor suitable for road bikes with skinny tyres.

The house at Boston Manor Park has recently reopened after extensive restoration work. Entry is free. The park has two cafes, although these are quite expensive. (https://thepottingshed.london/ and https://www.cooksandpartners.co.uk/boston-manor-house-cafe) Feel free to bring your own snacks and/or drinks. There are plenty of benches and picnic tables. Our refreshment stop will allow time to explore the park and house.

The ride will be completed at a leisurely pace, and no one is left behind. We will encounter a couple of flights of stairs at canal access points, but we will ensure that everyone is helped in getting their bike up or down. Remember to check your bike before the ride, paying particular attention to the tyres and brakes. Bring a spare innertube and tools to fix a puncture. Make sure you have a lock to keep your bike secure if unattended.

The time for the ride is a best estimate by the Ride Leader. Sometimes this can be affected by factors such as the weather, mechanical issues, the queue at the cafe, etc. We have a policy of leaving no rider behind so, if anyone is struggling, we will adjust the speed and take rest stops if necessary.
