Join us for the gentle paced FridayRidey around the suburbs of north Leeds, some hills but nothing to challenging

Coffee and Cake stop: Halloween at Hardback Cafe at Shadwell Library, it is CASH only

Leaving the station we head up to Kirkstall road (A65) and head down the shared bus lane, turning left onto Vesper lane opposite Kirkstall Abbey and onto the car park, from here we have a short section on Morris lane, it can sometimes be busy, turning left at St Stephens C of E School we have a very short climb up to the underpass under the railway line, it's cycle paths to and through Beckett Park Campus Headingley, Far Headingley where we pick the road up to Weetwood, Adel and round Eccup Reservoir, cross A61 to pick up the cycle path round the back of Leeds Grammar School, it has degraded in parts and after the weekends weather the option to walk the short section at the start maybe wise. Passing Alwoodley Golf Club on Manor House lane we come out left on Wigton lane to the end at the T junction at the Dexter pub, we turn right then left dropping down into Shadwell for our special Halloween treat.

There is no online menu, homemade soup £2.00, pot of tea or carafe of coffee £2.00, all important cake, all homemade £2.00, sponges/cheesecake and pie, main course selection of sandwiches, quiche, toasties, pannini, bacon £4.00£/5.00

Leaving the library we head up Gateland lane to the ELOR dedicated cycle path and follow it to The Springs retail park. From here we pick up a short gravel bridleway to Barrowby lane, crossing Selby road at the lights we are now on a cycle path to Temple Newsam, from here we will have a choice of returning to Leeds city centre on the shared path that runs along Pontefract lane or head around the rear of Skelton Lake services on the new path to the Aire and Calder Navigation (1 mile longer) and lots to see, following it back to Leeds Dock (Royal Armouries) then cut through to the rear of the railway station for those returning by train, its an extra 4 miles back to Kirkstall via bike lane/road and towpath

Bike lock is a must, spare inner tube and pennies for lunch
