This is a circular route which you can see in detail on the map below. We will ride along River Mersey onto Reddish Vale park joining Black Forest canal later on to bring us to the Portland Basin. We will have to walk and push our bikes for 20 metres up the hill to join the canal. On the way back we will ride along Ashton Canal and then come back to Chorlton using the Fallowfield loop.

Most of the ride is traffic free on paved tarmac suitable for mountain, gravel and hybrid bikes. We will ride along the canal. There will be a few short sections on the road. Most of the ride is traffic free.

We will stop midway at Portland Basin Museum. It has a free entry and a cafe with seating inside and outside. There are also picnic tables available thus feel free to bring your own lunch or snack. We will spend 30-45 minutes there.

Please wear a helmet, bring a bike lock, bike lights, correct inner tube for your bike and snacks or money for the cafe.

We never leave anyone behind
