Grasmere

If you're fairly confident on your bike and ready to broaden your cycling horizons, our Steady rides are ideal. At a comfortable pace, and possibly with some modest hills along the way, rides take place on mainly quiet roads with plenty of sights along the way. Rides are between 6 and 20 miles long, at a moderate pace of between 7 and 10 miles an hour. Come and join us on this stunning ride using the newly upgraded bridleway along Grasmere Lake shoreline. Starting in the picturesque Grasmere village, this route quickly leaves the noise of the village behind and picks up the new Grasmere Lake and Rydal Water shore cycleway where you will really get to enjoy the beauty of the area. After a good 3 mile of cycling we come to a natural stopping point for a breather and ice cream before making our way back to Grasmere where upon completion of the ride you can enjoy a well-earned cup of tea and cakes courtesy of Friends of the Lake District. Please be aware that this route does contain some short sharp bumps with the possible need to dismount along the way as the bridleway is brought up to speed. We will be in no rush though so plenty of time to take in the views of these two classic lakes.
