We start at the car park at Gowerton traffic lights and then follow national cycle route 4 to join the Millennium Coast Path and cycle to Llanelli North Dock. We return along the same route, stopping for refreshments at North Dock or Penclacwydd wildfowl centre.
Apart from a couple of miles at the start and finish, the route is mainly traffic free along the millennium coast path.
There are no planned routes other than a coffee stop; we will however stop as necessary to take a breather, and if anyone wants photos along the route.
Riders are advised to wear helmets, wear clothing appropriate to the weather, and ensure that bikes are in good working order. We will be stopping for refreshments on the way back, so please bring money for teas/coffees. Also, bring any refreshments you might need on route. A pump, spare inner tube and lock for your bike are always useful. As a lot of the route is on gravel surface, the ride is not particularly suited to thin wheeled road bikes. All other bikes are appropriate, including e bikes and fold ups.
This is a fairly flat route and for large sections traffic free with lovely views along the Burry Inlet. Due to its coastal location it is exposed in part, and can be windy. We try and stick together as a group, but we ensure that we go the speed of the slowest, so that nobody gets left behind. We are a sociable group. There is usually cake and coffee, and newcomers are always welcome.
