Starting point

SR6 0GL

Roof of the National Glass Centre

South Shields Marine Park (approximately 15 miles) This is a ride for women (adults only) who enjoy a social leisure ride and will always go at the pace of the slowest rider. Starting at the National Glass Centre the route will follow cycle path along the coast to Toney Minchella’s Cafe in Marine park for refreshments/lunch and then return the same way. The ride is free to join but please bring money with you if you wish to have lunch or some refreshments. The route is mainly traffic but does have some road sections/crossings. It has some uphill parts but riders can go as slow as they need. The path is mostly tarmacked, however there are some sections with loose/dirt surface therefore a mountain or wider tyre hybrid style bike would be more advisable. Please check the website on the morning of the ride to make sure it is still going ahead. Important Information for riders Working lights are essential on this ride. A spare inner tube, pump, bike lock, helmet and waterproof clothing are recommended. The role of the ride leader is to navigate the route and hopefully provide an enjoyable experience. They are not responsible for your personal safety, riders are responsible for their own health and safety at all times. Please be aware that although ride leaders will help you if you get a puncture, they are not mechanically trained and are not responsible for assessing the safety of your bike, or repairing it, before or during the ride. Although the planned route is as stated above, it may be necessary for the ride leader to deviate from this route in an emergency or in unforeseen circumstances.
