Starting point

DY8 2AA

By the Bandstand at Mary Stevens Park, Stourbridge

Starting from the Bandstand at Mary Stevens Park ride (with care for pedestrians) to the Stanley Road entrance going straight over to the path by the football field. Come out on Beech Road and continue right towards Norton Road (A451). Use the pedestrian crossing and turn into Whittington Road. Then Eveson Road, The Broadway to Sugar Loaf Lane. Turn right here and ride steadily up the long, gradual climb to the top.

Re-group and ride downhill to meet Beechtree Lane. Turn left here and cross the staggered crossroads (A451) towards will Churchill. Another long, steady climb be followed by a descent to the crossroads at Churchill (care). Although this is a pleasant lane, it does have heavy, fast moving traffic along Stakenbridge Lane and Stoney Lane. Cross the A456 (care) to Broome Lane and again across the A450 (care) – both have heavy traffic. Continue through the pretty village of Broome and turn right along Holy Cross Green to the village where there is a 5-ways junction. Turn left and then turn left into the car park of Clent Nurseries, just before the roundabout. This will be our refreshment stop.

On the return trip, turn left out of the nurseries to the roundabout and take the first exit onto Broome Lane. At the junction with Holy Cross Green, turn right onto the track leading to Field House Residential Home (uneven surface). At the end turn left onto Western Road to meet Worcester Road at the bottom of the hill. Dismount and walk across this busy main road at the traffic lights and ride again on Worcester Lane into Hagley village. Climb the hill out of the village, and take next turning left over the railway bridge to Cobham Road, Love Lane and Stanley Road to return to Mary Stevens Park.

Distance approximately 11.7 miles – undulating.
