TD1 1BH
This is a moderate 7.2 mile tarmac route, following an on-road section through Galashiels town centre before rounding Gala Hill. Route follows quiet road to the Old Tweed Bridge where the River Tweed and Ettrick Water meet at the old Tweed Bridge. Returning alongside the Tweed and Gala Water.
The short section through Galashiels town centre can be busy with traffic. Once on to Elm Row, there is a short uphill section to the quiet country road around Gala Hill, the traffic is less frequent. The return section from Boleside is on a quiet country road and shared path, until Huddersfield Street where there is a short on-road section due to the temporary closure/replacement of Glenfield Bridge.
We can stop at any point along the road as required! Good places to stop along the way are at the old Tweed Bridge and along Boleside at Galafoot.
All riders are advised to wear a helmet and to be prepared for all weathers given the season we are currently experiencing! Remember to bring a spare inner tube and mini pump for your bike. You may also want to bring water or juice for the ride. Please also bring money for the end of ride refreshments back in Galashiels.
The group always ride together, with breaks as necessary. All welcome!
