Saturday 14th Jan '23 - 11am - 19 miles
Due to ferry crossings, expect to be out for about 3.5-4hrs

Ride description:
Beginning at the cycle hub, we'll use traffic-free cycle paths on the north side of the Tyne to reach North Shields, where we'll use the Shields ferry to cross the river to the south side... We'll then use a couple of short sections of road and some cycle paths to make our way to the Tyne cycle tunnel. After obligatory photos in the cycle tunnel, we'll rejoin the north side of the Tyne to make our way back to the start point on traffic-free cycle paths.
A lovely route and a perfect introduction if you've never been on a Breeze ride before - or if you've never used the Shields ferry or the cycle tunnel!... Both included on one ride!
Suitable for all bike types.
The pace will be steady and sociable.
NOTE: it costs a couple of quid to use the ferry - please bring a method of contactless payment.
There is no designated cafe stop for this ride, but there's time to have a drink and snack on the ferry, if you want to bring your own.
Option to have a cuppa at the hub at the end of the ride.

Please make sure your bike is in working condition PRIOR to arriving for the ride and bring a spare inner tube to fit your tyres (check the valve type too!) and/or a puncture repair kit. The leaders can help you fix a puncture, but only if you have the right size inner tube for your bike or a puncture repair kit!
Whilst we welcome any bike type, we have zero knowledge of e-bikes, so if you are riding an e-bike, please come prepared to independently sort out any mechanicals that you may have.

Helmets are not mandatory, but are strongly advised.

If the weather is poor, we will only contact you if we are cancelling the ride and will do so by putting a message in the ‘conversation’ tab in the ride. You should receive a notification by email if there is a message. If you have not heard from us we are still riding.

If you book on this ride and then find you have to cancel, please do so as soon as you can so that your place is available to someone else.

PHOTOGRAPHY - The organiser of the ride may take photographs or videos of the ride and riders for publicity purposes. By registering to participate in the ride, you agree that photographic images of you or containing you, may be used by the organiser, sponsors or promoters of the ride for publicity purposes

We look forward to seeing you.
