This is a little gem nestled east of the clwydians the ride is a loop of less than 5km, with a little bit of everything- well surfaced forest track, a steady climb from the car park turns into a double width trail with varied surfaces, there is one short worn & rutted climb section which can be walked, passing the site of the pant du lead mine and taking in views over the cheshire plain before returning to the trees and back to the outbound forest track.
This is a perfect intro to MTB, long enough to get a feel for it, but not technical or demanding.

**** This HSBC UK Breeze bike ride is a beginners mountain bike ride, brought to you by a qualified Fundamentals of Mountain Bike Leader. To deliver rides as per the remit of the Fundamentals of MTB Award, I also hold a valid 2 day outdoor first aid certificate. **** This is a great ride if you have never mountain biked and want to see what it’s all about. It would also be good if you are returning to the trails after a break away. This ride will be on forest tracks and paths, ideal for those new to mountain biking, or wanting to build confidence.

The route is shared with walkers and horse riders and is a popular dog walking location.

There are no facilities nearby so bring a flask for a warm drink at the end.

WHAT TO BRING: - A bike in good working order & suitable for riding off road. Either a mountain bike, a hybrid with mountain bike tyres or a gravel bike with suitable tyres A bike with front suspension is fine (a "hard tail") - A helmet is compulsory for this ride - Full fingered gloves are essential also - Suitable footwear eg. trainers (no open toed shoes/ sandals) - You may want to consider some eye protection - sunglasses or safety glasses would be fine - Suitable clothes. Something that you will feel comfortable in - but no baggy trousers or clothes that could get caught or snagged. Eg. tracksuit bottoms would work well, layers are good. Consider the weather (a waterproof coat is a good idea). -A small rucksack is useful - A drink and any snacks for the ride (you'll find the miles more strenuous than the same road miles - so its worth having something to eat before the ride to keep you going) - Money for the café (if there is a planned stop) - A mask, hand sanitiser or sanitising wipes - A spare inner tube suitable for your tyres If you've got any questions or wonder whether this is the ride for you - please do get in touch.
