Starting point

From Upton & Kexby village hall we head into Gainsborough and cross the Trent turning right along the Old Trent Road behind the pub. We shall not be taking the busy main road. Once at Beckingham we head south through the various villages until crossing the A57 near Dunham and stopping for refreshments at the Manor Cottage Bakery an Tea Room. Next a short ride takes us to the old railway route to Lincoln, crossing the Trent via the viaduct and passing through a number of old railway stations until we reach the towpath along the Fossdyke near Lincoln. We have about 15 miles of traffic free cycle route which varied between loose surfaces, soil and tarmac all OK with normal road tyres. Once on the A57 cycleway a turn off towards Broxholme will see us heading back towards the start. Don't forget to bring the usual supplies in case of punctures and some cash for the stop where in addition to cakes there are also breakfast dishes and sandwiches available. The route has no significant climbs and is flat almost all the way round. Ignore the little leg along to Saxilby, the mapping site puts it in!
