About the route
Starting point
Lancashire BL6 7SB
Starting at Rivington Lower Barn car park, we will meander through the woodland trail before taking the road between the reservoirs. This has quite an elevation but don't worry we will stop at the top to take a breath. From here we will cycle along the country roads until reaching Adlington Marina where we will follow the canal along the towpath until we reach Chorley. This next section will be on the road until we reach our destination, The Old Stable tearooms were delightful, delicious refreshments are available to purchase, so please bring some money with you. This route has a hilly start and a hilly finish but the rest is fairly flat and is a mix of tarmac, woody trail and a canal towpath. As always, we recommend a helmet and if you have an inner tube and bike lock please bring them with you. Please bear in mind this is a social ride and so will be cycling between 9-11 mph so any Bradley Wiggins out there will be frustrated! Children over the age of 10 who can ride this distance and at this pace are welcome but they MUST wear a helmet or will not be allowed to take part on this festive ride.
