Join us for a pretty flat 15 mile ride from Elvaston Castle aimed at newer riders or those not used to riding with other people. Mostly on quieter lanes, a couple of short sections on busier roads, some of it is on the cycle path that takes you around the A50/M1 junction. All on tarmac, suitable for any kind of bike but knobbly mountain bike tyres will make it feel like hard work.

We are going to try something different on this one as there was quite a lot of interest for what was meant to be more of a beginners ride, so I've increased the overall numbers, but we will split into two groups for the ride, one going slightly faster than the other, with me taking one group and Caroline and Dougal taking the other.

As always, pace in both groups will be determined by those feeling slowest on the day, we'll stop for a breather and a chat when we need to, no one will get left behind. There will be a café stop towards the end of the ride.

Bring a working bike, a working helmet, a working sense of humour, some money for the café and car park, a drink and a spare inner tube to fit your tyres, just in case. Dress for whatever the weather may bring - who knows, maybe even pack the suncream!
