A more challenging route this time - 27 miles and nearly 1000 feet of climbing, all on road, suitable for road bikes and hybrids, knobbly mountain bike tyres will make it harder! A marina based loop around Burton upon Trent.

Starting from the car park at Barton Turns Marina, we'll head out through Barton and into the lanes and estate villages to the north, with a fair amount of climbing to enjoy, before it levels out as we cross the Dove and Trent flood plains to get to the café at Willington Marina.

From there we will cross the Trent and head south through the centre of historic Repton and it's private school, before a bit more climbing till we drop in to cut along the edge of Burton upon Trent - which will include a mile or so of busy roads, I'm afraid - before we climb away from Burton to work our way back down, crossing the river again at Walton on Trent on our way back to Barton Turns.
