Starting from - Meet towards the left hand side of the car park at Barton Turns marina, the side away from the pub and shops. Another cycle group sometimes meets up there, but they are all skinny race whippets, so nothing to do with us! There are public toilets at the opposite end of the shops/restaurant complex where the new flats are being built. DE13 8AS

This lovely little route starts in Staffordshire, cuts across Derbyshire and has a café stop in Leicestershire, and all in less than 30 miles.

Starting from the car park at Barton Turns Marina, we nip over the Trent and work south and then east along rolling rural lanes and through some attractive little villages, before working our way past a bit of industrial heritage up to the café at the Hicks Lodge cycle centre to check out their cakes and cobs.

We then return on a similar route through some more country lanes and villages back to Barton.

Nice steady social ride, we'll go at the pace of the person at the back and stop to catch our breath at the top of hills as required. The route is all on roads, so can be ridden on any kind of bike but mountain bike tyres will make it harder!
