Not a guided ride as such, but a chance to ride the off road trails at the Hicks Lodge/National Forest Cycle Centre and to have some great fun away from the traffic.

The trails are intended to be family friendly - both the blue and the green are 4-5 mile loops, with around 200 feet of climbing in a loop. The green is the smoother surface, and more suitable for hybrids and gravel/CX bikes. The blue has a rougher surface, lots of twisty bermed corners and a few rollers to ride over, so mountain bikes are a better option. Neither should be muddy as such, but expect muddy puddles to ride through and dress accordingly.

Exact plans depend on numbers and what the FC Ranger Chris Hart is willing to let us do as a group, but I'm happy to lead small groups round either the blue or green routes, or just let the more confident of you loose and meet up back at the café.

You can hire mountain bikes from the bike hire shop there - you might want to investigate that option yourselves in advance.

Bring a working bike, a working helmet, a working sense of fun, inner tube and a pump, and money for the café
