Not quite a normal FLAB ride - Hicks Lodge is the Forestry Commissions Cycle Centre in the National Forest, geared up for beginner and family friendly riding on waymarked trails.
The Green route is ideal for hybrid or CX type bikes, being fairly flat and smooth. The Blue is a lot tighter and twistier, with berms and little bumps, and better on a mountain bike if you value your wrists! Each is roughly 5 miles in length.
I'm working there as a volunteer on the morning of 1st August, and taking my mountain bike along for a play afterwards, so if anyone wants to join me, I'll be in front of the visitor centre at 1.30 - unless I'm in hospital having my thumb reattached after a mishap with a sharp forestry implement - it's not every wife who gets to spend Valentines Day at Minor Injuries, I can tell you!
We can play it by ear depending who turns up, but I have cleared it with Chris the Ranger just in case I'm inundated.
Open to the idea of accompanied kids as I know it's the school holidays, but message me first please
