Watford Cycle Hub The Pavilion Chaffinch Lane Watford

Hi all! Georgia here - leading this ride as part of the Watford Cycle Hub (WCH) Ride Social Team. Website: http://watfordcyclehub.org.uk Phone: 01923 223 994 ‘Finding Common Ground’ is to be a genuinely leisurely and sociable ride through mainly quiet country lanes to the wonderful little gem of a café ‘Common Ground’ in Chipperfield, on the edge of the Chilterns. Website: http://commongroundcoffee.co.uk/index.html Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/CGcipperfield/ This is a ‘pace of the slowest’ ride, with no pace pressure, or set pace category. If you’ve cycled mainly on the flat and want some hill practice on quiet country lanes, this will be a great ride for you! Walking up a hill is fine! : ) Just come and have a go and gain experience and confidence! : ) If you have not cycled in a group before, and/or want to gain experience of cycling on the roads with some traffic, again this should be a good route for you. : ) This ride is also suited for riders who simply ride for the joy of good company and in pursuit of the best coffee and cake! : ) You too are most welcome. : ) Children are also welcome, provided they are fit enough to ride a 16 mile route with hills; are riding a bike with the gear range to help them climb to the top, and have experience of hill climbing using their gears. Anyone under 16 years of age must be accompanied by a parent / guardian riding with them. More advanced cyclists are also welcome and your experience and know-how would be a great help to anyone just getting started cycling, or coming back to it after many years…please simply be aware this ride will be geared to nurture less experienced cyclists and families… if it’s too slow for you, and you know your way around these lanes, then I’m happy for you to be the ‘advanced guard’ to ‘Common Ground’! : ) Going on ahead is fine, as is leaving if you need to get back…just let me know. Hope to see you Sunday morning at the Hub! Georgia x P.S. The route is provisional – I will adjust it for the needs of the group on the day if need be. At Watford Cycle Hub, there is free parking, toilet facilities, the opportunity to use the track pump or top up your water bottle before the ride, and mechanics on hand to check your bike over - though if you have any major problems with your bike – please get it looked at before Sunday morning! Please also bring 2 spare inner tubes for you bike (just in case). They are £4 new from Watford Cycle Hub; refurbished - £1; 50p – refurbished & patched – if we have your size in stock. I use the refurbished ones. Hopefully it goes without saying Ride Social guided rides are free of charge – we are simply volunteers who love doing this! : All WCH Ride Social Leaders, including myself, are qualified British Cycling SkyRide Leaders &/or Breeze Champions so you can be assured we know how to get you around the route safely, and hopefully help you have a great time out on your bike! : )
