‘Finding Common Ground’ is to be a genuinely leisurely and sociable ride through mainly quiet country lanes to the wonderful little gem of a café ‘Common Ground’ in Chipperfield, on the edge of the Chilterns.

This ride is being put on at the start of half-term with families in mind. This is a ‘pace of the slowest’ ride, with no pace pressure, or set pace category. If you and your children have cycled mainly on the flat and want some hill practice on quiet country lanes, this will be a great ride for you! Walking up a hill is fine! : ) Just come and have a go and gain experience and confidence! : ) If you have not cycled in a group before, and/or want to gain experience of cycling on the roads with some traffic, again this should be a good route for you. : )
Children are warmly welcome, provided they are fit enough to ride a 15 mile route with hills; are riding a bike with the gear range to help them climb to the top, and have some experience of hill climbing using their gears. Anyone under 16 years of age must be accompanied by a parent / guardian riding with them.
This ride is also suited for riders who simply ride for the joy of good company and in pursuit of the best coffee and cake! : ) You too are most welcome. : )
More advanced cyclists are also welcome and your experience and know-how would be a great help to anyone just getting started cycling, or coming back to it after many years…please simply be aware this ride will be geared to nurture less experienced cyclists and families… if it’s too slow for you, and you know your way around these lanes, then I’m happy for you to be the ‘advanced guard’ to ‘Common Ground’! : ) Going on ahead is fine, as is leaving if you need to get back…just let me know.
Hope to see you Sunday morning at the Hub!
