PL6 7HB

This route is quite close to Plymouth but little known. We will leave the A386 and head down some narrow lanes towards Lopwell Dam. We push our bikes across the footbridge then carry on up the track to join the signed Cycle route around the lanes of the Bere Peninsular. On leaving Bere Alston we head down towards Denham bridge taking care of road conditions and any traffic using this small road. When we cross the Denham Bridge we turn left to avoid the traffic and climb up a steep potholed lane to Buckland Monachorum. We then return by road to the George Park and Ride

Explore the Bere Peninsular with a stop at Weir Quay cafe

The majority of the route is along country lanes as we explore a little known area as its difficult to get to. We will cross the River Tavy at low tide and push our bikes up a rough track towards Collytown. We are then on quiet country lanes looking at some old villages and railway stations. There are some steep hills but we will keep away from busy roads when climbing out of Denham Bridge. The ride is especially suited to ebikes getting up the steep hills.

Weir Quay has a nice cafe but there is an alternative cafe in Bere Alston if closed. We will look at the Maristow House Estate, Bere Ferrers pub, church and railway station.

Helmet, Rain-jacket, money, phone, spare inner tube and a sense of humour on the hills.

This is a challenging ride !
