This ride is a circular route around the quiet country lanes of Owslebury.
We will meet at Marwell Zoo carpark entrance SO21 1JH. Plenty of parking if coming by car. Here we will do a quick bike check.
We will head out along Thompsons Lane and be on the quieter lanes, enjoying the views and pretty countryside around Lower Baybridge and Owslebury. From Baybridge, we will head in the direction of the village of Owslebury, then go down Jackman’s Hill. There is a great view at the top of Mare Lane, which we will go down and along Hensting Lane.
The stop will be at The Fisher’s Pond pub for a well-earned refreshment break!
After, we will go back along Portsmouth Road for approximately one mile, returning to Marwell Zoo for the finish.
This ride will be a gentle pace with some steady hill climbs and some wonderful downhill bits on mainly quieter roads and lanes. Come and give the ride ago, as we will ride at the slowest rider’s pace and no one will be left behind.
It’s a good idea to bring some water, money for refreshments and a helmet is advisable with appropriate clothes for weather. Also, check your tyres are pumped up adequately with a spare inner tube that fits!
As it is an evening ride, please fit LIGHTS for poor lighting/darkness!
