Roadside Parking on Ashopton Viaduct, A57, near Bamford.

This is a steady ride from the Ashopton viaduct on the A57 out to King's Tree and back. We should get stunning views across Ladybower Reservoir and up to Derwent and Bamford Edge. The first part of the ride is along a shared cycle/footpath and then  we join the minor road along the side of the reservoir. At this time of evening, the road should be quiet. The first part of the route is flattish, but I'll be honest, the road down to Fairholmes is up and down. We can take it nice and steady and walk if needed! Once we get to King's Tree, we can have a rest there so remember to bring a drink and snack. We will then retrace our route back along the road at the side of the reservoir to the viaduct, then back along the cycle path. There is a steady climb back but as said before, we will take it nice and steady and can walk if it gets too much! It's a lovely time of day to do this ride and enjoy our beautifuul countryside. Wearing a helmet is advisable; if you don’t have one please do not to worry you can still take part.  If you enjoy the bike ride and would like to come again perhaps you could look to buy one then.  Bike lights are also advisable, especially if the weather is gloomy. Please dress appropriately for the weather and you’ll need to bring a drink, snack to keep you going, spare inner tube and puncture repair kit. If you have any questions for more information on all of our rides please see our Facebook page Breeze network Derbyshire Look forward to seeing you there!
