Starting point

CA19 1TT

Starting with the King George 1V pub in Eskdale on your RHS, head south / east on the main road towards Birker Fell / Broughton (not the road to Dalegarth) for about 0.2m. Just over a bridge is a lay-by / car park overlooking the beck on the RHS.

From Forge Bridge a short 1 mile ride down the Birker Fell road (right at the kennels) and along the beck, then back again past where we are parked and on to Eskdale Green. Right at the King George pub , past the Ratty narrow gauge steam railway station at Dalegarth and onto a coffe stop at the Woolpack which is at the foot of Hardknott Pass. Then return along the same route. All along tarmac roads. A family friendly ride, that will be fine even for those of us who are a million miles from being mistaken for Chris Froome or Victoria Pendleton! Lycra not required, just a helmet and a safe bike. It is 3 miles from the cars to the Woolpack. If people would like a longer ride we could go further along the Birker Fell road at the start, but after a mile we do hit a bit of a hill.
