Approx 20 Miles https://otbtwalking.wixsite.com/nottinghamcycleteam/2017-events How do I sign up? This is easy, simply turn up at the start line for the stated time and find the rabble with bikes!? We are friendly so please don't be shy. Pop over and say hi and we can get you on the ride easily enough. Some people find it easier to contact us on Facebook or by text, especially if they get lost or held up, so please see the links at the top of this page. Contact us by mail or on the Facebook Page for a number to contact on the day once you are signed up for the ride/event. What will we see? West Park, Erewash Canal, Old Nottingham Canal, Bramcote Works Where are we heading? Starting at West Park, Long Eaton we join the Erewash Canal and follow up to Langley Mill, where we cross the road and ride down the following side to Stapleford. Here we cross the lines and join the canal again back to the start line. This is mainly canal track with some forest trails and a few gravel & tarmac strips. A great day out especially in the sunshine so fingers crossed for the good weather. Strenuous? The journey is not too strenuous hill wise, but the distance on so much flat if it is a windy day can really take its toll on your legs and does cover some trails so wider wheels are better, recumbents should be ok on the trails but a bit of leg work may be needed here and there, and punctures will be common if racer wheels are attached to bikes so may slow down the ride if you're on track/road wheels. There are a few skinny paths here and there and a railway bridge or two to negotiate. Rules of the ride. A helmet MUST be worn, no helmet no ride. We travel with no mech or medic so self sufficiency is essential, bring waterproofs and whatever inner tubes and puncture kits, equipment etc you may need. We tend to travel with tyre levers and a pump, but just in case Refreshments. There are no food stops so you will need to eat before hand, after the ride or bring snacks for our food stop near Langley Mill. How do I find the startline? Please be at the leisure Centre main entrance, we will congregate next to the door area which is next to the car park to the centre and West Park. Also the Long Eaton has a Train Station. Please use a Garmin, route app, map etc to ensure you arrive at the starting line on time. The ride will start approx 10 minutes from the time mentioned above.
