From Bowness Knott car park down the forest road and along the lakeshore to Irish bridge. Crossing the river Liza before continuing up the valley on the Bridleway to Middle Bridge & back. Exploring the valley by bike allows you to see striking views over Ennerdale water to the mythical Giant’s fishing seat; whilst passing along the twisting crystal clear waters of the River Liza as it winds along the valley bottom with views of the majestic backdrop of Pillar and Great Gable further up the valley.

The route is entirely on forest roads & bridleways which can have large potholes & loose gravel. Therefore, Mountain bikes with good tread are advisable.

Helmets are essential, a spare inner tube useful. As is comfortable clothing – a waterproof if wet. Bringing something to drink & a snack is advised as there are no facilities once up the valley - including no mobile signal.
