Ebchester Station to Swalwell Pedalling Squares

Ebchester Station to Swalwell Pedalling Squares Sunday 6th November 2016 at 10am 19 miles approx 4 hours including refreshment stop Starting from Ebchester Station Picnic Area DH8 0SU Pedal with us through the delightful and surprising Derwent Valley. We will hopefully cycle amidst the autumn glory along the Derwent Valley Railway Path passing Hamsterley, Rowlands Gill, the Derwent Walk Country Park and through to Swalwell. Apart from a short section in Rowlands Gill and at Swalwell the ride will all be off road (good quality) so best coming on a hybrid or mountain bike. This is an out and back ride. Our outward journey will be downhill (mostly) but when we come back we'll do our best to breeze back uphill, having put fuel into our bellies at the Pedalling Squares cafe. Seeing that this cafe features on numerous Sky Social rides we couldn't resist visiting one of the North East's most iconic cycling cafes. We'll be riding for 2-3 hours with about an hour for refreshments. Please come prepared for what the weather might throw at us. Winter will be looming so bring waterproofs and wear plenty of layers including warm gloves, buff etc as well as a spare inner tube for your tyre size and money for refreshments. Hope you can join us for a scenic and sociable ride through Durham's and Gateshead's lovely countryside. The Derwent Walk Railway Path really is one of the region's most attractive off road cycle routes so come and explore it in good company. We might even snatch a peek at some red kites.
