An easy 14 mile route from FBC to Riseley, passing through lots of country lanes and forest tracks and with only 1 hill (which is not too steep!) We will start on the greenway from FBC, then take the new road/cycleway to Finchwood Park and cross over to ride up Farley Hill. We will then head on country lanes through Swallowfield to Riseley, where we will stop for a coffee break at the lovely Riseley Village tea rooms, which serves delicious home-made cakes and scones and is very welcoming. Our return journey will take us on some different country lanes, then across Bramshill Forest to cross over the New Mill Ford and back through California Country Park. We won't ride too fast and where there's an up there is always a down! (I have an alternative road route if the forest tracks are too muddy on the day.)
If you would prefer a slightly longer route (20 miles return from Crowthorne) I am happy to meet at 9.15 at Wellington Sports Centre Car Park, RG45 7PT - PLEASE MESSAGE ME IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO MEET AT CROWTHORNE.
Cycle helmets are compulsory. To avoid unnecessary delays, please check the night before that your tyres are correctly inflated, brakes working, and chain oiled. Please bring with you: bottle of water, a spare inner tube to fit your tyres and a pump and bike lock if you have one. For the coffee stop, please also bring cash or card for drink payment.
We always welcome new faces, and never leave anyone behind!
First-timers welcome!
